Greater Asheville Regional Airport Temporary Runway 17-35

Temporary Runway 17-35 is an 8.8 million dollar site preparation and grading package for the Asheville Regional Airport Authority Airfield Redevelopment Program. The project started in June 2014 with an anticipated completion of January 2015. The projects consists of the construction of approximately 495,000 cy to runway embankment, 140,000 CY to stockpile for future use, 12,000 LF of storm sewer ranging from 60” – 18” RCP and 73 associated structures for the construction of a new parallel taxiway. The project scope also includes the construction of a 39,000 SF mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall. In addition, this project has established all the erosion and sediment controls for remaining four bid packages.
